Eric Hamber Game Report

This last Friday, matched the undefeated Eric Hamber Griffins against Surrey’s Earl Marriott Mariners in a key BC HIGH SCHOOL Football Game at Eric Hamber. It was no contest as Marriott rolled over Hamber 35-6 with a total team effort. Clicking on all cylinders, the Mariners roared to a 21-0 first quarter lead on touchdowns from QB/Rec-Chris Ridley, and respective running backs, Nathan Brown and Patrick Grabowski. Second half found Anvir Grewal score on the a 35 yard pass from Ridley 35 while Nathan Brown reeled off another major on 60 yard off tackle burst. Anvir Grewal was also a perfect 5 for 5 on conversions.
Other offensive standouts were receivers, Aidan Clancy and Harmon Dhillon. Clancy came up big early with a key 3rd down on 18 – a spectacular 22 yd. reception to keep a drive alive. Offensive Coordinator, Scott Martens, laid out a perfect balanced attack against the Griffins and kept them off balance throughout the game.
Defensively, a swarming attacking defense paid dividends with many key stops and two interceptions from Weston Bernard and Anvir Grewal. Colby McNabb and Jayden Sanderson played solid from their Linebacker position behind a solid line boosted by Lukas Stevens and James Dyer. Head Coach Michael MacKay-Dunn felt it was time, “All aspects of our game were clicking after a solid week of practices, the players are learning to play for each other.” With this win, the Mariners are undefeated in League play and this Thursday travel to Campbell River to face the Timberline Timber Wolves in league play.
